A little light for your dreary Tuesday

In an effort to remind myself that it's not always Haiti coverage, mudslides and baby colds around here, I went through some of the last few weeks' favorite photos.

Please enjoy, comment and long for more.

*sigh*

Due to a miscommunication between the owner and the manager, the apartment we applied for had already been rented before we applied. We took our frustrations out on some innocent pizza dough and margaritas last night.

The quest continues...

Guess it's time to start thinking about only bottlefeeding

Miller's first 2 teeth have officially broken the surface. (Yes, I did cry. He's growing up. Like I said before, I am romantic sap; my heart has no choice but to melt.)

Yes, I did tear up

Here are a few photo gems from Stephanie and Paul's BEAUTIFUL wedding this past weekend.
(Some/most photos are a bit blurry. I HATE using my flash, but I also tend to have a bit of a shaky hand. C'est la vie.)

Toasting the bride pre-ceremony and looking down at the DELICIOUS taco truck. SO MUCH FUN! Thank you Steph for inviting me.

Stephanie's mom as she watched her walk into the courtyard.

Paul as he watched her come into the courtyard. (This is when I lost it. While watching him. I'm such a sap.)

Thank you again Stephanie for allowing me to be a part of your wedding experience. I truly hope you had a great, blessed, lovely and remarkable day.

A New Nest?

Since I'm taking time off of working to spend my time with Miller and to focus on getting some writing done, we've had to learn to tighten our budget a bit. One thing that we traded in doing so was the luxury of more space by moving into a bigger place.
Miller's now 6 months old and learning better sleeping habits... since we've set up his bed in the living room. Even though we LOVE the apartment we are in now, I think we are all ready to tighten the budget belt a bit more and find a 2 bedroom we can learn to love just as much.

Fingers crossed! We turned in an application today for a place a few blocks away from where we are now that fits our budget and our spacial needs. It doesn't have the charm, yard, washer/dryer or view of a few others we looked at. But overall, it's a place where I can see our little family continue to grow a bit for the next few years as we keep saving money to one day own our own place.

Wish us luck!

First comes love then comes...

I helped a few friends last night host a bridal shower for our friend Steph. Stephanie lives in the midwest and it's always a treat to see her. It's even more of a treat to be able to shower her with good food, new undies and loads of giggles before her and her fiance, Paul's, big day this weekend.

Esty love!

Most of you that know me well know how often I praise the world of etsy and try throughout the year to give most gifts from or inspired by an etsy seller. If you are not a convert YOU NEED TO BE.

Here are some of my latest faves:

(Paloma's Nest)

(Beebles)

(Sophie Blackall)

(Zippinning)

As with most online purchases beware and make sure you love your item before you hit that paypal option. Some wares are not always such treats

"What are we? Gypsies?!"

{Source?}
Evan and I have a new ongoing battle in our home. For some reason he LOATHES small forks. It's the strangest hatred. I myself enjoy a smaller fork from time to time, which only causes more annoyance when they show up while Evan does dishes.

His disgust fumed through our home the other night as he cried out, "What are we GYPSIES? Forced to use a small fork!?"

Miller and I casually walked into another room and laughed.

What are your most random and rather irrational hates?

Ending my 2009 watching the "30 Rock" high school reunion episode

What a treat!
Thank you 2009! Thanks for all that you have taught me!

Loving the Loathing

Evan and I laughed cliches away when people would tell us that our life would change once we had children.

"What an adventure!" we'd exclaim. "So blessed to be a part of the universe in this way!" This romantic notion living outloud through the tiny cells dividing inside me... Months later I'm stretch marked and struggling to find enough energy to shower much less shave my legs. Thankfully it's winter.

Miller's up for the second time tonight and it isn't even eleven yet. I'm anticipating another long night and another equally painful morning.

I realized this week his sweet milky breath smells a little like elmer's glue. I think of brightly colored construction paper and valentine's every time I kiss his cheeks. Or every last ten seconds as he continues to yell at me.

He stops complaining and plays piano on the laptop. I forget to be annoyed that I'm missing the end of the not so funny movie I've been attempting to watch for the last four hours.

Evan's at a concert with his brother. I'm contemplating how to ask my doctor for a prescription for cocaine. Miller just blew snot on my sweater. Again.

"Tomorrow will be better." I repeat in my head.

I feel warm rhythmic breaths creep across my neck. His consonant raspberry babble has ceased.

"No," I remind myself. "Today. Today is best."

Christmas 2009 (part us): Our first Christmas morning together as a family

Just us three... and a dog... and some cinnamon rolls...

Sadly, this is the only picture I have of myself during the holidays. Not sadly, it's a picture of me opening my Lisa Leonard necklace.

Also, Evan gave me this original papercut drawing I've been drooling over for about a year. Isn't it dreamy??

Does anyone else find Shel Silverstein's author photo slightly creepy?
