the kid's screaming in protest
"blueberries are bad" he says
"eat them anyway" i say
i can't complain
8:30am
7:30pm
and that dimple
man oh man
if your dad had that dimple there'd be three of you by now
this is mine
my coffee at noon
my trips to target for more yogurt melts
my excitement for swings, keys in the door, cocktails with netflix
my shadows on the sidewalk
my search for words
i wouldn't trade it
this is the way it is now
this is the way it always was
this is what should be

Well, these were a pointless purchase
The box said "child proof outlet covers". I'm assuming that was a typo.

Should I feel guilty for grabbing my camera instead of stopping him?

P.S. Really Amy??
There are probably a hundred photos of Evan and Miller on our computer that are RIDICULOUSLY GORGEOUS.
Take this one from our weekend for instance:
And then there are the pictures of Miller and me:
Remember this post? And you all thought I was kidding.
Man, oh man, I need a new camera face.
And a new haircut.

I'll take aching feet from Disneyland streets anyday!
What a TREAT!
Beautiful weather, quality time with Evan's family and a (mostly) meltdown free day at the happiest place on Earth!
{This was his face for the first hour courtesy of early rising and over stimulation.}
{The whole gang}
{"High five!"}
Someone even managed to find a few moments to rest.
Disneyland is still such a special place for Evan and me. We feel like giddy six year olds skipping along, holding balloons, chocolate smeared on our cheeks. Eyes wide open in awe of all the magic.
I know Miller won't remember his first trip, but we will.
And we made sure to enjoy every minute of it.

Happy Friday!
Evan and I are counting the days until summer vacation. But we'll settle for beautiful weekends until then.
Speaking of summer, how awesome would this be on my kitchen counter?!?!

Confessions
- I bite my nails and pick at my cuticles. Most of the time this isn't even a conscious thing. Any tips on stopping would be greatly appreciated.
- I am usually late to everything. If I remember correctly I think I was about an hour late to my own wedding.
- I let Miller play in the dog's water bowl while I do my makeup. It's the best thing to keep him occupied. Either that or I give him a bottle of tylenol to try to open. Don't worry; there's a child safety seal.
- I peed into a yellow plastic Easter basket when I was about 3 or 4. I made sure to never play with it as it made the rounds in toy boxes when I was growing up.
- I can count on one hand how many times I've worked out in a gym. Well really, half a hand. Working out is just so boring.
- My first real celebrity crush was David Bowie in LABYRINTH. I didn't realize this until much much later when I could understand the tingling weird feelings in my stomach when I watched that movie.
- I used to eat all the marshmallows from "Lucky Charms" so when my little sister poured a bowl it would only be the grainy parts. Sorry Erin; they were so good.
- I am awful at remembering people's birthdays. But, hopefully, I make up for it in present giving?
- Every time I watch "Madmen" I want to smoke a cigarette. Or four.
- I'd love to know who reads this blog.

I should be folding laundry not window shopping online
Evan's out helping a friend by DJing a bat mitzvah and I've been spending the last few hours productively watching videos on hulu and searching for the perfect spring purse/ diaper bag.
Thoughts?
Thoughts?
A new spring bag is oh so very important.
And I need your oh so very important opinion or additional links to more oh so very important bags I should meet.
Whoops! Evan just called to say he's on his way home. And I'm off on a mad rush to look like I haven't just wasted 3 hours watching old episodes of "30 Rock". See ya later, alligators!

I hope Hailey in Pennslyvania likes her felt book!
Literal MOUNTAINS of dishes and laundry have had to wait the last few days so I could hang solo with Miller and finish my first etsy sale by Monday.
Even though dinner with friends, shopping trips and breakfast with my mother in law were great distractions, I still managed to finish on time.
I hope she loves it!

Missing Evan
It's the Monday morning after Evan's spring break.
Back to work.
Back to longing for summer.
We had a wonderful week last week just hanging around enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather, getting Miller a passport (it took fifteen shots, but he has THE cutest passport photo EVER!), playdates, having grown up playdates, walks, lunches at Senor Fish and Red Robin and lots and lots of snuggles.
Miller and I survived, truly enjoyed our time together and managed to still stay good friends by the end of the weekend.

Evan finalized his week off by meeting up with some Northern California pals along the Central Coast for a biking/ camping trip. Sans the wife and kid. (Stay tuned for a guest post from him about it!)
{Miller attempting to distract Evan from making his weekend getaway plans.}
{Miller and Bea}
{Miller and Caitlin}
{Miller again trying to draw Ev's attention away from prepping for the bike trip.}
Here are some highlights of our weekend without Evan:
{The best bed head cowlick yet!}
{Tiny ducklings at the petting zoo}
{Picnic with Mom}

Aren't these the cutest!
I can't wait until Miller waddles around the house in these bad boys.
They are almost as cute as the ones his Daddy used to wear. Thanks Grandma Mimi!

Someone understands "Come here"
I'm hoping the next commands he understands are "Fold the laundry", "Take Heidi for a walk" and "Get Mommy a diet coke."
I'll be sure to keep you posted on our success.

Because your Easter basket treats are tucked away for a few more days
Enjoy a bit of internet sweetness until then:
I have three of Sharon Montrose's B-E-A-UTIFUL prints already hanging in my home. It looks like now I need a fourth. See the video of her photographing the giraffe for the first time here.
Another photographer/artist/father's work I truly admire is Ryan Marshall from Pacing the Panic Room. He does such an amazing job documenting his family with pictures, videos and writing. His blog always adds such light to my day. Recently he added a video piecing together special moments to "freeze" the memories and milestones his family has been making recently. Grab some tissues and WATCH IT NOW. It is truly breathtaking. (Also check out the pregnancy series he did while his wife Cole was pregnant with their daughter. Again BREATHTAKING work.)
PEEPS BUNTING!!! Need I say more??? Find the tutorial here.
