Homies

While we are still on the hunt for a bigger place, it's been nice to not have to stress about moving boxes and plastering over nail holes. Since Miller's now consistently sleeping through the night and no longer waking up when we sneak into bed, there's no rush for us to settle on a place just because it fits our budget and need for more walls. We'll find our new home when it's time.

Until then, I'm dreaming about my favorite duplex for sale in our neighborhood. It's just under a million. That's totally doable within our one income teacher budget right?

(This picture from the mls website does not even do it justice. It is by far one of the cutest buildings I've ever seen. Bright yellow, black and white awnings, bougainvilla. It almost hurts your heart it's so cute.)

So close...

Miller's working on the whole forward motion of things

But for every push forward, he's still doing a few scoots back. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

Check out Heather Armstrong's blog where I came across her identical looking pooch. While you are over there shoot her a "CONGRATS!" because she just signed on to an HGTV development deal as a result of her blog.

See Evan. Important people do read blogs. :)

Prayers for Haiti

Where do I start?
Where do I stop?

I'm only ankle deep
and shaking knees
I've been too busy blinking
and now it's hard to focus
Water continues to rise
and I steel myself to face a wave

Speed demons

Over the long weekend we braved the wet roads and headed to an indoor kart race track. Both Miller and Evan were mesmerized. Too bad Miller has to grow about twenty more inches before he's allowed to tear up the track alongside his Dad.

Damn you Anthropologie catalog!

Not only do you make me want to spend all my money in your store, but now I want to cut all my hair off again. Curse you and your beautiful scheming!

A little light for your dreary Tuesday

In an effort to remind myself that it's not always Haiti coverage, mudslides and baby colds around here, I went through some of the last few weeks' favorite photos.

Please enjoy, comment and long for more.

*sigh*

Due to a miscommunication between the owner and the manager, the apartment we applied for had already been rented before we applied. We took our frustrations out on some innocent pizza dough and margaritas last night.

The quest continues...

Guess it's time to start thinking about only bottlefeeding

Miller's first 2 teeth have officially broken the surface. (Yes, I did cry. He's growing up. Like I said before, I am romantic sap; my heart has no choice but to melt.)

Yes, I did tear up

Here are a few photo gems from Stephanie and Paul's BEAUTIFUL wedding this past weekend.
(Some/most photos are a bit blurry. I HATE using my flash, but I also tend to have a bit of a shaky hand. C'est la vie.)

Toasting the bride pre-ceremony and looking down at the DELICIOUS taco truck. SO MUCH FUN! Thank you Steph for inviting me.

Stephanie's mom as she watched her walk into the courtyard.

Paul as he watched her come into the courtyard. (This is when I lost it. While watching him. I'm such a sap.)

Thank you again Stephanie for allowing me to be a part of your wedding experience. I truly hope you had a great, blessed, lovely and remarkable day.

A New Nest?

Since I'm taking time off of working to spend my time with Miller and to focus on getting some writing done, we've had to learn to tighten our budget a bit. One thing that we traded in doing so was the luxury of more space by moving into a bigger place.
Miller's now 6 months old and learning better sleeping habits... since we've set up his bed in the living room. Even though we LOVE the apartment we are in now, I think we are all ready to tighten the budget belt a bit more and find a 2 bedroom we can learn to love just as much.

Fingers crossed! We turned in an application today for a place a few blocks away from where we are now that fits our budget and our spacial needs. It doesn't have the charm, yard, washer/dryer or view of a few others we looked at. But overall, it's a place where I can see our little family continue to grow a bit for the next few years as we keep saving money to one day own our own place.

Wish us luck!

First comes love then comes...

I helped a few friends last night host a bridal shower for our friend Steph. Stephanie lives in the midwest and it's always a treat to see her. It's even more of a treat to be able to shower her with good food, new undies and loads of giggles before her and her fiance, Paul's, big day this weekend.
