GOOOOOOOAAAAALS!!

No, I'm not talking about World Cup; I'm talking about accomplishing, finishing and inspiring some summertime goals.
  • stop being so precious with my writing and read it.  outloud.  in public.
  • transform my bedroom into a sanctuary, not just a place for clothes piles and unmade beds
  • finish my screenplay(s)
  • find a part time job that I can feel inspired by
  • reunite with my sewing machine and paintbrushes
  • bake bread from scratch
I'm sure the list will continue to grow as the summer days creep on.
I HOPE the list will continue.
In fact I KNOW the list will continue.

What do you have on your summertime to do list?

{making lemonade.  want some?}

Your Chariot Awaits

Beach cruisers, sunscreen, lots of snacks and a really awesome friend who's willing to tow the chariot pretty much the entire 10 miles are all you need to enjoy a beautiful bike ride.

Thanks everyone for coming out!  We can't wait to do it again!

Smokey Eye Me

A few friends of mine gathered last night so we could all swap makeup tips, colors, hatred, ineptitude, etc.  (Some of us are more pro with makeup than others.  I tend to hang out in the non pro category.)

All it took was a heavy glass of wine, adding mascara to the top of my lashes (why I never did this trick I don't know?!), and a perfectly angled shadow brush and my eyes were transformed into some serious weapons.  Fortunately for you, I did not get pictures.

But check out these peepers instead.  (Why do all the boys get the long thick eyelashes by the way?)

Dear criminals who broke into my Nana's home,

Really?  You can walk through someone's home like that, tossing aside seventy seven years worth of memories and confidence and safety in a matter of minutes?  Did your heart twist at all when you pocketed a handful of crosses and wedding bands?  Was there any sense of sadness while you dumped out photos and letters and words not meant for you?

How lost your life must be.  How lonely your heart must be.
I don't pray very often.  But I pray for you.

Instead of tears, you've given me cause to celebrate.  To celebrate that I am surrounded by great, full lives.  That I have been impacted and motivated to move forward.  Where we've found connection, you've found pockets full of emptiness.

Again, I don't pray very often.  But I pray for you.

Sincerely,
Amy

I love you Nana.  I'd fight them all for you.  I'm scrappy like that.  :)

Holy smokes! That's a lot of felt!

I just mailed off a custom RUSHED order of 20 farm buddies puppets ordered on Monday night!!  Man, oh man, the last 24 hours in our home have been a frenzy of felt piles, scissors and glue.

I am so glad that I managed to finish in time and hopefully their new owners love them! (Check out the horse they requested!!)

Miller and Evan are glad that I can pay attention to them again.
I'm glad that I can focus on my DVR again.  "The Bachelorette", what what??

Celebrity Impressions by Miller

{Hint: "I pity the fool!"}

{Hint: "? ? is coming into your world..."}

What are your guesses?

P.S. I think it might be time for a haircut...and maybe a new teeth guard for the crib.

Happy Father's Day Weekend!

I'm pretty sure Miller is the luckiest kid I know to have a Daddy like Evan.

We plan to celebrate Evan this weekend with a few of his favorite things- a friendly bike ride, delicious breakfast burritos (lucky boy!!!), and lots and lots of snuggles.

Happy Father's Day to you and yours!

speaking of sum sum summertime

Today I'm pretending my stomach isn't zebra striped with stretch marks and I'm dreaming about bikinis (via anthropologie of course!)...

I'm kicking myself right now for being so self conscious pre-pregnancy and wearing one pieces so much of the time.  I should have rocked the S#@% out of my two pieces!!  Until I find a few thousand lying around to waste on laser removeling my skin, I'll definitely encourage you to BIKINI IT UP, ladies!

***P.S. Just to clarify my vanity, I want you all to know that I GLADLY & PROUDLY love every stretch mark on my body.  They represent something so mind blowingly AWESOME & MAGICAL.
I am proud.
I am honored.
I am a mother.
I wouldn't trade it for anything.

"Hey neighbor kids! What are you guys playing?"

Of course it sounds more like "DAT!  DAT!  Puufffffffbabababa... ACH! ACH!"  I'm 90 percent sure they understand what he's yelling to them though.

P.S. Can you believe in less than 1 month he's having a birthday?!?

Etsy Summer Trading has begun!

My shop's a part of oh, hello friend's summer 2010 etsy shop trading guide! (Check out the banner at the top and bottom of my blog!)

When I first discovered etsy a few years ago I was instantly smitten.  How amazing I felt it was to see thousands of people creating, selling and expressing themselves through their shops.  What a community!  I longed to have my own space where I could be among so many great artists, collectors and appreciators.  Now I do have my own shop (this is the part where you are reminded that you wanted to buy something) and little by little I feel like I have found my place.

So check out the shops involved in the Summer Trading Guide and give us each the validation, exposure, sales and feedback that ignite our creative spirits.

Maybe next year you'll be a part of it too!

Miller's (mostly) finished room

I recently staged the kid's room to take some photos for a design blog I was hoping to write for.  It wasn't in the cards for me this time around, but I was quite proud that a submission deadline was all I needed to motivate me to work on finishing Miller's room.

Enjoy the tour!

Guess who's a sippy cup pro now??

if your name is Kira and you just had your 1st birthday, DON'T read this post

Taking inspiration from my talented friend Julie (who makes SUPER cute felt finger puppets), I made some hand puppets last night for our friend's baby's first birthday.

Since I totally spaced that it was last week (see I told you I was horrible at remembering birthdays!), I wanted to make something extra special.  These farm buddies felt like just the right thing to cure my belated birthday greeting.

I hope she loves them!

Slather on that SPF

Temperatures are on the rise, which translates to "Where is and how quickly can I get to the closest pool?"
Considering that Evan is a natural (and a record breaking swimmer back in the day!!), it only took Miller a couple of days of pool hopping to realize that he's starting to love it too.

Someone else loves swimming in a pool too...

I hope your warm days are filled with pool hopping too!

Insert "Cat's in the Cradle" music here

Evan doesn't think this blog post title is as funny as I do.
I've been laughing at it for the last five minutes.
I blame it on the curdled half and half I poured into my coffee this morning.

Make it so.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who watched "Star Trek: The Next Generation" religiously in high school.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who in fourth grade was jealous when her mom was chosen to go on stage at the Universal Studios Star Trek experience.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who at seven spent an entire afternoon recreating the bridge with legos.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Patrick Stewart is kind of hot.  Even hotter now that he's just been knighted.
Please?
Somebody?
Anybody?

"I do my moves. I do my dance moves!"

One of Evan's (and my own early) birthday presents this year was tickets to the Hollywood Bowl to see Flight of the Conchords.

It may or may not have been in order to buy this new insulated picnic tote. (From Homegoods if you are coveting.)

Regardless of the reason for going to the concert, my cheeks are still aching from smiling throughout the entire show.  (My feet still ache too, but that's because I hiked to the Bowl from Hollywood & Highland in uncomfortable, yet [as Evan reassured me twice] sexy shoes.)

If for some reason you have no idea who I'm taking about, watch these videos.  If you know who they are, watch the videos too.

WARNING: will cause aching cheeks!!  Maybe aching feet too
