Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jacks!

We ate hotdogs.
We clapped.
We waved.
We loved every minute of Miller's first Dodger game.

To be fair, Miller and I have been practicing our fan activities while watching Evan and his softball team :)

{Thanks for the softball photos, Papa Stan!}

Picnic Picnic Picnic

As Miller gets older and more active (and louder, argumentative and more squirrly), restaurant dining is starting to become rather complicated.  One wonderful way to balance our need to get out of the house and let this energetic infant burn off some steam is to incorporate more picnics into our life this spring and summer.

Who's with us?

Have a wonderful weekend!  I hope there is some sort of picnic in your weekend plans.  :)

Good Ol' Fashioned Trickery

It really has become a daily battle to get this kid to eat new food flavors and textures.  He LOVES to eat, but introduce anything new to his tongue and it's immediately thrown on the floor.  (Heidi doesn't seem to mind.)

Today when fresh plums were gathering in a pile on the floor, I decided to take action.  (Seriously, who doesn't like fresh plums?!?)  Today's trick was to crumble graham crackers (a treat he FREAKS OUT over) and sprinkle them over the plums.

SUCCESS!  Miller acted like I sprinkled crack cocaine over the fruit and proceeded to literally inhale each piece.

Hmm, I wonder what else I can get him to do by simply sprinkling graham crackers around?

So opinionated

It's a daily battle to get Miller to drink from his sippy cup.  Months ago, when I first introduced it, he was drinking from it like nobody's business.  Now it's thrown on the floor in defiant protest.  Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated since I hope to have him off bottles by his first birthday in less than two months.

Something else he's starting to protest:  clothes.  We're hoping he never gets to the protesting of diapers stage.

What he's NOT protesting:  spaghetti and meatballs.  Good thing he's not wearing any clothes.

Do your heart a favor

To continue the birthday celebration, Evan and I went on a bona fide date here this past weekend.  And by "bona fide date" I mean we called to check on Miller at least twice.  (He was suffering from a rather snotty head cold.  Which I now have.  Thank you very much.)

Unlike Tina and Steve, we had a reservation.  We were on time and ready to stuff our faces with chimichurri, steak and "panqueques".  Unfortunately, our table was not.  Because we looked so swanky and cool, the host offered to buy us a drink while we waited.  And by "looked so swanky and cool" I mean we gave him "I hate you eyes" when he told us we'd have to wait.  We sat down at the bar, he poured us each a glass of Don David Malbec and MAN OH MAN was I glad we had to wait.

I'm not a wine expert by any means.  I know what I don't like, I know what I love and I know what I'll drink when I only have two bucks to spend.  But I do know that this wine is divine.  So smooth.  Almost creamy.  The perfect balance of a rich red without the heaviness.  I'm now on a Los Angeles hunt to find this wine and stock up (and by "stock up" I mean HOARD).

If you see it anywhere in the Southern California area LET ME KNOW.  Pretty please.
If you see it anywhere else, buy it, order it off the menu, bathe in it.
It is HEAVENLY!

What would your board say?

Adorable right?  I'm wondering if my chalk aversion would go away if I had this cute chalkboard to write on...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy 100th post to me!

the kid's screaming in protest
"blueberries are bad" he says
"eat them anyway" i say

i can't complain
8:30am
7:30pm
and that dimple
man oh man
if your dad had that dimple there'd be three of you by now

this is mine
my coffee at noon
my trips to target for more yogurt melts
my excitement for swings, keys in the door, cocktails with netflix
my shadows on the sidewalk
my search for words

i wouldn't trade it
this is the way it is now
this is the way it always was
this is what should be

Well, these were a pointless purchase

The box said "child proof outlet covers".  I'm assuming that was a typo.

Should I feel guilty for grabbing my camera instead of stopping him?

P.S. Really Amy??

There are probably a hundred photos of Evan and Miller on our computer that are RIDICULOUSLY GORGEOUS.

Take this one from our weekend for instance:

And then there are the pictures of Miller and me:

Remember this post?  And you all thought I was kidding.

Man, oh man, I need a new camera face.
And a new haircut.

I'll take aching feet from Disneyland streets anyday!

What a TREAT!
Beautiful weather, quality time with Evan's family and a (mostly) meltdown free day at the happiest place on Earth!

{This was his face for the first hour courtesy of early rising and over stimulation.}
{The whole gang}
{"High five!"}

Someone even managed to find a few moments to rest.

Disneyland is still such a special place for Evan and me.  We feel like giddy six year olds skipping along, holding balloons, chocolate smeared on our cheeks.  Eyes wide open in awe of all the magic.

I know Miller won't remember his first trip, but we will.
And we made sure to enjoy every minute of it.
