it's autumn soup time, y'all
We made chicken with rice tonight (see this recipe here).
But tonight we weren't satisfied with the basics.
Tonight we wanted to kick it up to eleven.
As the veggies, chicken and 1 bag of cooked trader joe's frozen brown rice (microwavable rice packet=awesomeness!) simmered together in their broth, I mixed 1 cup of warm broth with 1 can of tomato paste and 1 tablespoon of sriracha. I mixed that back into the soup allowing the flavors to mingle for another 10-15ish minutes. Then we ladled ourselves a couple of bowl fulls of DELISH!
Miller, however, saw vegetables and immediately clenched his jaw. Sucks to be him.

Well, Color Me Happy!
Who needs coloring books (or drawing abilities) when you have computer paper, a black marker and a wild imagination.

Christmas 2015, here I come!!
I have no clue how to knit.
The instructions in this book look like hieroglyphics.
But strategically place some painfully adorable kids in some painfully adorable hand knitted sweaters, and not only will I immediately buy it, I'll learn to decipher anything.

Don't judge me because cartoons have been on all day
So what if we can't go outside because it's so sad and rainy
So what if we're surrounded by piles of dishes that may or may not be more than two days old
So what if Miller only ate blueberries and not his turkey sandwich for lunch
So what if we've been watching the same three episodes of "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" snuggled up on the couch all day
We're still smiling.
What have you defied lately? :)

Sweet new kicks
If Miller is anything like his Mom (and let's be honest, his Dad too), he'll have a closet filled with shoes in no time. Yet another reason why walking is sooo much fun.

Just how long can you lounge around eating ice cream before it's time to hang your clothes, wash dishes and clean your bathroom?
After a rather indulgent weekend (Oktoberfest, Jack in the Box tacos, new record player needles?) I'm pretending that today is not "Get your butt in gear and be productive Monday."
I'm continuing to give myself a few more moments to (pretend) to indulge in pretty [cool] things.

FYI, a tiny Ikea igloo tent can comfortably hold 4 kids, 2 little dogs, a pile of wood blocks and 8 blankets
